In Term 3 our focus has been on waste.
UNIT AIM By the end of this unit the class will learn that rubbish is not rubbish if it can be reused or recycled.
Key scientific concepts 1. There are finite amount of chemicals on earth although they can be arranged and rearranged in different ways
2. We classify things as rubbish only when we decide they are no longer useful to us
3. Supplies of some raw materials will get used up unless we conserve them
Specific Learning Outcomes
1. Classify rubbish into groups of similar materials
2. Understand that similar materials have different properties
3. Supplies of some raw materials will be used up unless we find ways to conserve them
4. We classify things as rubbish as soon as they are no longer useful to us 5. If we are careful about how we use materials we can reduce the amount of rubbish we produce TASK:
